CROS/BiCROS

CROS (Contralateral Routing of Signal) and BiCROS hearing aids are specialized devices designed for individuals experiencing asymmetrical hearing loss. CROS hearing aids are ideal for those who have severe hearing loss or deafness in one ear, while their other ear has normal hearing. BiCROS hearing aids cater to those who have severe hearing loss or deafness in one ear and mild hearing loss in the other.

These hearing aids enhance directional hearing capabilities, which can be compromised when one ear is significantly impaired. The system works by placing a transmitter on the ear with more severe hearing loss. This transmitter picks up sound from its side and wirelessly sends it to the hearing aid worn in the better-hearing ear. This allows the user to perceive sounds coming from both sides, facilitating a more natural 360-degree listening experience.

CROS and BiCROS hearing aids are particularly effective in helping users determine the direction of sounds, which is essential for spatial orientation and safer navigation in various environments. By bridging the gap between two different hearing abilities, these hearing aids offer a significant improvement in overall hearing and quality of life for those with unilateral hearing loss.
